Shivworks and Weaponizing Grappling

Previously I’ve addressed that historically, jiujitsu (and really a lot of grappling) was not solely an unarmed fighting system.

The practical modern application of these concepts is aptly demonstrated by Craig Douglas, in this piece on grappling with a hand-held weapon: like a knife, or handgun or a Taser that didn’t have the desired effect…

Consider also the reverse – controlling the armed assailant’s hand or hands while using similar grappling tactics.

Contextually this is the kind of stuff that is much closer to practicality than what we usually see with sword- or knife-arts, though both of these, too, engaged a lot of grappling methodology when used in actual combat.
