Shivworks and Weaponized Wrestling

Previously I’ve addressed that historically, jiujitsu (and really a lot of grappling) was not solely an unarmed fighting system.

The practical modern application of these concepts is aptly demonstrated by Craig Douglas, in this piece on wrestling with a hand-held weapon: like a knife, or handgun or a Taser that didn’t have the desired effect…

Consider also the reverse – controlling the armed assailant’s hand or hands while using similar grappling tactics.

Contextually this kind of stuff is much nearer to practicality than what we usually see in the sword- or knife “arts,” though both of these, too, engaged in grappling methodology when used in actual combat.
